Well, it had to happen sooner or later. The first wreck with the first car. I guess I should back up a bit, because I never officially mentioned on here that I bought a car. Yeah, back at the end of November I realized life would be a little easier if I bought a car. If we’re friends on Facebook, you can read my thanks to my family/friends for making it possible, if you haven’t already. But yeah, she’s pretty and runs like a dream.
Last weekend I drove up to Portland to hang out with my friends, and early Saturday morning I’d drug my (not a morning person) best friend to a ballet class. As I was parking I got in a fight with a cantankerous old cement curb on a cold morning. It ripped out the inner wheel well/fender and the scratch plate. Amazingly damage that can only really be seen from under the car. Damage that only really could have been created by that curb, on that morning, at that angle.
This morning I got all the parts replaced. $300 later I’ve taken care of it all. At least I got that over with, I’m at a place in my life where I can take care of these kind of things, and really, aside from some dirt my lovely still looks (and drives) like the day I bought her.
My first goal of 2013 however is to learn how to estimate where the front right corner of my car is.
