Halfway done, where’d part one go?

It dawned on me yesterday that it’s:
spring
May
week 6
When did that all happen?
I’m wondering how I survived this term until now, and how exactly I’m getting through the rest of it.

The only thing that makes life possible is a permanent, intolerable uncertainty: not knowing what comes next.

This last week I found out I may be in a bit of a financial crisis come next year/this summer. But I might be able to get more money for school. I just won’t know until I jump through all the bureaucratic hoops. I’m not sure I like this much unpleasant uncertainty.

Between last week and this week I work circa 53 hours. I’m only supposed to work 80 hours a month according to state regulations. Eh…
In…
3 days I have a midterm in a layout/design class (wtf?)
5 days I have to have prints for an art gallery ready
6 days I have a (possible) photoshoot
9 days I have a photoshoot for the Student Spring Dance Concert
14 days I have to turn in my application for Adv. Photojournalsim
15 days I have a group presentation
16 days I have an Econ midterm
22 days I have a group paper
29 days I have another group paper
34 days I have finals week (all 4 of them)
*headdesk* much?

Not this last weekend, but the weekend before I did another shoot with Alex. It’s a little amazing how much stuff you can do with a folding chair and a lack of fear. Check it out. Seriously. I have some phenomenal shots from that day. The possible shoot that I have this weekend is with her again. It’s an on location shoot. If I do the one I’m thinking about it’ll be indoors and eerie, if I do it right. But I might take advantage of the sun! and do something outside.
OMG it’s spring, did I mention that?

I love getting stuff in the mail!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I ordered some legwarmers and warmup pants for dance class. And they got here really fast. Now I’m completely distracted from writing my essay. I’ve been running around taking pictures of myself in my new dance gear and washing dance clothes for Monday.

While I dance I cannot judge, I cannot hate, I cannot separate myself from life. I can only be joyful and whole. That is why I dance.

And now that I’ve shared the gloriousness of these with you, I have half an hour before I leave to go do. The photographer I work with just called.. I have 10 minutes before he gets here.. no more essay writing tonight I guess.

Well, enjoy. I’ve got to run and get camera stuff packed up, shoes on, etc.

This is MeMo.
MeMo consists of myself and my bestie.
We rock.
That’s really the important part.

The creative adult is the child who has survived.

She’ll be going of for grad school in London come fall – I’ll be staying here and applying to grad school – not in London, but in Colorado. In the mean time we’ll be doing what damage we can, in the form of a crazy webseries she dreamed up (as well as whatever else comes into our heads)

But despite the fun, I’m t-minus 1 hour to my first midterm of spring term 2008. It’s week 3 of 10. My brain will shortly explode. The class is media law. I like the subject – it interests me, as a photographer, graphic artist and general film/music enthusiast, I find first amendment and copyright law useful and interesting. This class is ridiculous. We’re in a journalism school, not pre-law, we aren’t predisposed to being thrown fact after fact and immediately memorize it all. Or at least those of us on creative tracks aren’t – maybe some of the reporters are.

update (later that day): okay – not as bad as it could have been, but that definitely wasn’t a good feeling walking out of that room. I feel like we just got thrown a bunch of toothpicks and no glue, how am I supposed to build a house?!?
